23 February 2007: During our stay in Southern Florida, I often saw Belted Kingfisher birds posing on power lines, but they are sooo small and fast, I never had a chance to photograph one. One day I was out photographing herons and egrets when this male Belted Kingfisher bird began to hover in the air much like a hummingbird. After hovering for quite a while, it dove into the water and snatched up a small fish then flew off. Learn more about Kingfisher birds.
