And the story goes ...

19 May 2007: While I was watching the woodpeckers, grosbeaks, and other backyard birds in Waukee, Iowa, I spotted this bird. At first, I thought that it was a blue grosbeak hanging out with the other grosbeaks, but it was much smaller.

After referencing my bird book, I believe that this is a male indigo bunting. He only visited the feeder a few times and left too quickly for me to get a better image. However, I have not adjusted the color in this photo and he was this brilliant blue. Amazing color!
