01 May 2005: This week on 05-05-05, many Latinos in the US will celebrate El Cinco de Mayo. This photo was taken in Goliad, Texas at the Presidio La Bahia. General Ignacio Zaragoza was born outside of the walls of this presidio. He led the Mexican Army to defeat the French Army that was occupying Mexico in the Batalla de Puebla on the fifth of May in 1862. He is honored at this presidio with a statue that is actually a gravestone that contains the names of the soldiers killed at the battle of Coleta Creek.
