And the story goes...

31 May 2005: Visit our newest online gallery, Joshua Tree National Park. The CA heat wave forced temperatures into triple digits and us inside all three days that we were near this park. On our very short outing into the park, this cactus plant caught my eye. Pink is my least favorite color, but this was a beautiful plant resting on top of a big rock that I had to climb to get this photo. Few cactus plants were blooming yet, so this was a real treat. As I was photographing this plant, a spotted humming bird buzzed around my head. It landed in a tree near a very big lizard, so it flew away quickly out of reach of the lizard and my camera lens.
