Oh, me! Oh, my! I think that I might cry. The sun was warm and the smells were new, So, Sadie showed some interest in exploring, too. I took her out with a leash on her collar, She decided to jump and hop into the bushes so I did follow and holler, “Sadie, come here. You’ll get hung up in there in all those branches and roots.” She did not respond. She did not reply. She did not give a hoot. Now, Harry and I walked around those bushes a few times, Thinking that she might smell us and come crawling back home, But she’s a very good hider who may decide to roam. The last time she did this, she hid for a very long time without making even a hiss. She probably watched me as I walked around calling out her name, Perhaps she thinks that this hiding thing is just a game. But there are critters out there that don’t want to play, They may want her to just go away, not stay. Last time when she hopped off on her own, she finally decided to come home, About one in the morning, a few hours before the sun shone. Her hiding was done when her game I did not play. After I stopped looking for her, she found her way To the picnic table in our site, and that’s where I found her with eyes shining so bright. It’s early morning and no Sadie did show, So, we’ll wait here for a day before we go. No leash or collar, did I find, and all night, she was on my mind. Harry did not sleep well alone in his cat-condo, he scratched and he cried. He wonders where Sadie has gone. Did she find another home, or has she died? We contacted the Humane Society and let them know that Sadie is MIA. We made posters and taped them to doors hoping she will no longer be missing today. Sadie was found in the woods as a kitten, so perhaps she went back to her roots. She will be missed because Harry needs a mate and will always wonder about her fate. We know that he will pout and we will be sad without a doubt. The neighbors have Sadie sighted. Hooray! “She’s was over that-a-way,” they say. We staked out the location calling her by name and telling her that we were tired of this hide-n-seek game. There was no response. There was no reply. So, some chicken juice we did try. She must be hungry by now for a hunter she is not, maybe the chicken juice will hit the spot. As I sat in the truck in the rain playing look-out in this hide-n-seek game, I heard a hungry cry. “It’s Sadie,” said this super spy. Alas, she did come from the bushes to seek her favorite meat treat. “Hey, Tom, Sadie’s back!” I yelled with delight. Then Harry dashed out the door to welcome his mate, Oh, no, now the two of them will be out on a late night date! But Tom responds quickly, and Sadie he grabs tight, And Kay nabs Harry before he takes flight. So, all is well in the RV tonight. Tomorrow, we go to another new site, And, we’re hoping that Sadie and Harry will be, Safe at home in our roving RV. |
