28 February 2005: On this last day of February, nine new photos of birds including purple martins were uploaded to our online Feathered Friends Gallery. I moved all of the photos of birds to this gallery. Yesterday, I saw daffodils in bloom as we drove to see the Oscar's best film, Million Dollar Baby. What a good, although sad, story! It's a good story because it makes you ask questions about right and wrong and goals and dreams. Tom and I also liked the Aviator and hope to see Ray soon.
27 February 2005: Three new photos of birds were added to our Animals Gallery this morning including photos of a downy woodpecker and a white-breasted nuthatch. I have also been seeing a group of purple martins, but they are very shy and fly away with the slightest movement of the camera. There is a birdhouse here in the park just for them. Their color looks best with some sunshine reflecting off of their feathers and there's no sunshine today; it's raining. Perhaps I can "shoot" them on another day before we leave Stone Mountain, GA, this week.
26 February 2005: Four new photos of birds were added to our Animals Gallery. The red-bellied woodpecker comes for popcorn and plays hide-n-seek with my camera. He's quite shy, but really wants that popcorn treat!
24 February 2005: I returned safely to Stone Mountain Campground near Atlanta to learn that Actor Matthew McConaughey is camping on the other side of the park! He's promoting his new film Sahara and doing a journal from the open road for MTV. Tom has seen him standing on his picnic table talking on his cell phone, perhaps to Penelope?, and says that there have been lights, cameras, and limos parading through the park during the last two days. I saw his truck and his Airstream, but not him. Alas, he's leaving tomorrow! I probably won't get a chance to snap a photo.
21 February 2005: My Mom's home and doing well. My case of the FLU has become an annoying cough and the sniffles. So, I'm headed back "home" to Atlanta on Thursday to Tom, Harry, and Sadie. We plan to continue our trek southwest to the Gulf on Monday, 28 February.
15 February 2005: I'm still in VA. My Mom is still in the hospital. Her surgery went well, but seems like there are daily complications. Now, I have the FLU. I wasn't young or old enough to get the flu shot in the fall. Ya know, middle age?! I'm missing my hubby, cats, and RV'ing. I do hope that we can see the cacti bloom in the Southwest this spring. I'm very eager to take lots of photos of the cactus flowers.
14 February 2005: Congratulations to my great-niece Kendall Rosie Sorrells who won second place in a local community beauty pageant in Bowie, MD! Baby brother Peyton and big sister TJ also participated. You may see more photos of TJ, Rosie, and Peyton in our online album at Shutterfly.com.
12 February 2005: Smugmug has a new slideshow option for viewing our online photo galleries. It's better than the old one but still has a few bugs. Give it a try. The slideshow option is located at the top of the page in a drop down menu next to "Style." The slideshow menu bar gives the viewer, YOU, additional options: captions?, fade?, duration?, and size? Viewing the slideshow full screen is now an option as well. Sometime last week I added a photo of the pileated woodpecker that we saw in the Stone Mountain Campground in Atlanta, GA to the Animals Gallery. You might enjoy viewing this "Woody Woodpecker."
03 February 2005: Fifteen more photos of birds were added to the Animals Gallery at our web gallery at Smugmug.com.
02 February 2005: Copyright information has been edited and added to each page. See box at bottom of page. On Saturday, Kay is flying back to VA to support her parents while her mother has surgery. She hopes to be back on the road to the Southwest o/a 20 February 2005.
02 February 2005: Ruby is back home but heavy rains have come so we'll stay put until Monday. Copyright information has been edited and added to each page. See box at bottom of page.
01 February 2005: More photos of birds were uploaded to our online gallery. Our truck Ruby has been repaired and we can fetch her tomorrow. So, we'll be headed south on Thursday, finally.
