August 2007: Home Again, Home Again in Brookings OR

31 August 2007: We have come full circle settling down again in Brookings, OR. The house purchase will be finalized on 10 September then we will have the essential painting done and carpets cleaned. We plan to move-in on 24 September. Our kittens will be brought home as soon as possible. We continue our almost daily play sessions with them. They recognize our voices and purr now when we hold them. Sadie Cat is purring again, too. I will begin teaching at SWOCC soon. I will be closing this travelblog until we hit the road again in a smaller RV in order to focus on my educational website where I will be blogging about my new teaching experiences. I will continue to upload photos as time allows.

26 August 2007: Kitten Harriet was adopted, so we'll take Ozzy. Ozzy is the vocalist of the trio. He has learned to growl to say no and squeal to say stop. Rocket continues to be the hyper-runt of the litter while Ror is the ruffian. We have play sessions with the kittens almost daily; photos coming soon. We are giving Sadie Cat valium for anxiety and she's become more vocal and active. We're absolutely sure that she misses her best friend, Harry Cat, just like we do. The process of purchasing the house drags on. We are waiting for a detailed survey plat of the property which is not required here in OR; however, if we are going to relandscape, we want to make sure that fences, sheds, and trees are not trespassing on any easements or neighbors' property. I am still waiting for my teaching assignment at SWOCC; paperwork is still in process at HR at the main campus in Coos Bay and student registration continues. I am making travel plans for my niece Melanie's wedding in mid-October. Her friends gave her a surprise bridal shower yesterday; nice of 'em.

20 August 2007: House purchase is in process. No news yet about teaching hours at SWOCC. We are adopting 3 kitties. A litter of 4-week old kittens were left in the drop-box at the local animal shelter. My sister Candy has two barn cats named Dixie and Chicks. She suggests that we name these kitties Emily, Natalie, and Marty, the first names of the singing trio, so we can keep it all in the family. Hahaha. We have been having play sessions with the kittens to get to know their personalities. Tom has named his Siamese-Tabby, Ror, for Ruby on Rails, his favorite computer software web development system. He has named the Sadie-look-alike, Rocket, because she runs fast, fast, fast. I will adopt the female long-haired black/gray kitty. I have named her Harriet because she may look like our Harry Cat. If the male long-haired black/gray kitty is not adopted by the time we take them home, I'll take him also and name him Ozzy. Sunshine has gone and gray, misty skies prevail.

11 August 2007: It has been a busy few weeks! After arriving in Brookings, we drove to Eugene to have new satellite parts installed. Nephew Phillip flew back to MD from Crescent City, CA and due to a delayed flight and "mechanical problems", he got to spend the night in a hotel in Sacramento arriving back "home" after about 24 hours. He probably really hates to fly now! He did not enjoy the RV-lifestyle and he missed his dog Bonnie. Tom and I have a contract on a small house in Brookings, OR, with ocean peek-a-boos from the upstairs which will be Tom's office. The yard and garden need much work so we'll have professional landscapers clean it up, complete the fence, and install a small gazebo. We'll do the new plantings. The weather is quite pleasant and Tom is breathing better. I may have a part-time teaching position at SOCC, Southwestern Oregon Community College, the local community college here. I'll know those details on Tuesday afternoon.
